Canterbury Walking Football Club (CWFC) has agreed to align itself with Canterbury City FC.
Formed in September 2015, a year after the first local walking football game at the Canterbury Cricket Ground, the Club now runs three sessions a week at the cricket ground (Friday evening), Northgate Community Centre (Monday evening) and Aylesham Leisure Centre (Wednesday afternoon).
The Club focuses on and welcomes over 50’s, of all abilities, who want to return to, or continue playing the game they love, albeit at a somewhat slower pace and being less physical. Each of the sessions has a different emphasis including two-touch, three-touch and limited or no contact.
Games against other walking football clubs have a strong social emphasis and players, aged from 50 to 78, have participated in such events as far away as Wiltshire.
The Chairman of CWFC was delighted to be involved with a Community Interest club such as CCFC stating “The tie up with Canterbury City FC is in line with both our organisations aim to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate in and enjoy all levels of football.”
