A nine goal thriller saw City sneak victory at The Victoria Rec and continue their fine form.
East Kent Division1 U16's
City went behind early, and Joe Danton in the home team goal pulled of a stunning save to keep it tight. However with the wind at their backs, City soon took control. The dangerous Sam Ditton hit a quick brace, thanks to fine work from Tom Franks and Alfie Ashdown, then Ben Wiebe-Williams received a pass from Dan Newton and buried a 35 yard screamer. Wiebe-Willams added his second with the best goal of the game. A steady build up from Skipper Ben Malone, found Bailey Whitely. He fed Archie Tennant, who's accurate pass picked out Josh Payne, he set Wiebe-Williams free to beat three tackles and fire home.
Playing into the wind, the home side knew they would be up against it, but they increased their lead. Patrick Higbee fired in a shot and as the ball pin ponged in the box, Jude King set up Josh Naylor to stab home. Jack Nickolson then raced clear and only a spectacular save from the away keeper kept it at 5-1. Ramsgate then pulled a goal back with a good individual effort, and Higbee was harshly adjudged for a hand ball, and the resulting penalty was converted. Ramsgate then made it 5-4 and panic was setting in for the home side and only last ditch defending from Malone and Whitely, ensured a narrow victory in a highly entertaining match.
